What is Learning Disability Support?

Learning disability support is everyday, practical support shaped around how each person understands, communicates and learns. It can cover routines, personal care, cooking, money, social life and anything else that daily life involves.

We take time to understand each person as an individual: their personality, interests, communication style, strengths and aspirations. Support is then built around the person, never around a diagnosis.

Progress is celebrated at every step. Whether it is preparing a meal, managing a routine or trying something new, every achievement matters.

Common Questions About Learning Disability Support

Will my loved one see the same support workers?

Wherever possible, yes. Consistency matters enormously, so we keep the same familiar support workers who know each person's communication and preferences.

How do you involve the person in decisions?

Support plans are built with the person, using whatever communication works for them. Nothing is decided about someone without them.

Can support include personal care?

Yes. Where personal care is needed it is provided respectfully and patiently, as part of one joined-up support plan.

Do you support people to get out and about?

Yes. Community life, activities, friendships and travel confidence are often the most valued parts of support.

Can support change as skills grow?

Yes. Plans are reviewed regularly and support steps back as independence grows, or steps up when more help is needed.

Can this be combined with supported living?

Yes. Learning disability support and supported living work naturally together as part of one plan.
