What Actually Happens at the Visit
A care assessment is simply a conversation in your own home. One of our team visits at a time that suits you, usually for around an hour.
We ask how you are managing day to day, what feels difficult, what you would like help with and what you would rather keep doing yourself. We look at the practical side too, such as stairs, bathrooms and anything that might affect safety.
At the end we explain what support we would suggest and roughly what it would involve. You are under no obligation to go ahead, and nothing is signed on the day.
What We Talk About
Daily routine
How the day currently works and where support would help most.
Personal care needs
What help is wanted, and how you would prefer it given.
Mobility and safety
Moving around the home, stairs, bathing and falls risk.
Meals and household
Cooking, shopping, laundry and keeping the home comfortable.
Company and wellbeing
Isolation, hobbies, getting out and what you enjoy.
Family and preferences
Who else is involved, and what matters most to you.
How to Prepare
- Have a family member present if you would like a second pair of ears.
- Jot down the tasks that have become difficult recently.
- Note any questions about costs, carers or how care would work.
- Think about times of day when support would be most useful.
There are no right answers and nothing to get wrong. We do this every day and we will guide the conversation.

Things Families Often Worry About
Will I be pressured into signing up?
No. The assessment is a conversation, not a sales visit. Nothing is signed on the day and you are free to decide in your own time, or decide against it entirely.
Does the assessment cost anything?
No. The assessment is completely free and there is no obligation to arrange care afterwards.
How soon can someone visit?
We will arrange a visit at a time that suits you. Call us with your situation and we will be straight with you about when we can come.
What if we decide we do not need care yet?
That is a perfectly good outcome. Many families use the assessment to understand their options and come back to us months later. We will not chase you.
Can a family member join by phone or video call?
Yes. Families are welcome to take part however suits them, whether in person, by phone or on a video call. A second pair of ears often helps.
Ready When You Are
There is no cost, no commitment and no pressure. Just a conversation about what would help.
